This page contains visual observations of eclipsing binaries, made with telescopes in the 8 to 10 inch range,
easily within the grasp of amateur astronomers. One or two of these observations were made with binoculars.
For further information on eclipsing binaries in general, see the EB page.
Visual magnitudes are obtained by comparing magnitudes with nearby stars of known magnitude. Step
magnitudes are values obtained by comparing magnitudes with nearby stars whose magnitudes are arbitrarily
assigned.
Magnitudes are shown on the vertical scale, time on the horizontal scale. The interval between time hacks
is about 30 minutes.
Finder chart for RZ Cas. The large circle should be about equal to one binocular field.
The chart is from Cartes du Ciel, a desktop planetarium program which can be downloaded for free.
